LA ZONA Sangiovese 2021
Made as a single vineyard wine, this Sangiovese marks a unique release for Chrismont and the La Zona collection.
TASTING NOTES
COLOUR: Dark red in colour with a crimson fringe.
AROMA: Dark cherry, blackberry, and mulberry aromas, with a background of chocolate and toffee.
PALATE: The palate is full and distinctive with dark berry fruit, well-structured with characteristic fine tannins.
WINEMAKER NOTES
“The grapes are crushed and fermented in two batches; one on skins for 14
days before being drained off, and the other fermented and left on skins for an
extra four weeks extended maceration. These two variations help to enhance
and exhibit the classic savoury sangiovese tannins. The new wine is then
drained and gently pressed into new (30%) and older French oak hogsheads for
malolactic fermentation and 15 months maturation before being blended and
prepared for bottling. The wine is then released after an extra twelve to eighteen
months age in bottle.” Warren Proft, winemaker
