RISERVA IL Ré Nebbiolo 2005

For Chrismont, Nebbiolo is unquestionably the most noble of Italian grape varieties, which we believe perfect for the King Valley earth and air. Grown for the making of the cherished Chrismont IL Ré 2005, our commitment to this rich, dark bastion of a grape has just been elevated, with the highly prized ‘Jacko Block’ in the district of Edi secured for future Nebbiolo wines – a vineyard well known to all growers and winemakers as the benchmark site for King Valley Nebbiolo. 

TASTING NOTES
The colour is defined with glossy garnet red, ruby shades and lines of orange hues, IL Ré 2005 has an extraordinarily expressive nose; cedar, cigar box, menthol and mulberry fruits fill the senses. The palate is extremely dry at first, developing a silky texture with chalky-grippy tannins and a hint of bitter almonds combined nicely with voluptuous fruit. Gracefully powered, energetic and savoury with noble acidity and crunchy layers of blackberries and vanilla. A complex aroma of tea, dried flowers, dark fruits and hints of wood follow through to a full body and a long finish. Refined and fascinating.
