“Patience is likely to be rewarded” – La Zona Sagrantino 2013

Sagrantino often demands something of the drinker and this release is in that category. It’s a forceful, strenuous wine, tiring if you’re of a certain mind though rewarding if you’re of another. Hulking tannin takes centre stage, or seems to, while flavours of plum, dried herbs, leather, roasted nuts and aniseed fight it out for second place. There’s plenty to brood on here. Patience is likely to be rewarded. 94pts   l ‘Special Value Wine’. James Halliday Australian Wine Companion Ed. 2016
