“Chrismont has hit form with this variety” – La Zona Sangiovese 2013

It needs a little time to relax and soften but this is a worthwhile sangiovese. Chrismont has hit form with this variety of late. The tannin tends towards heroic but it just seems to work with the savoury, leafy, nutty aspects of the wine. It’s an autumnal wine, but with enough fruit to keep any queries at bay. Just make sure you give it another year or two in bottle first. 92pts. James Halliday Australian Wine Companion Ed.2016
