We’re thrilled to have won GOLD at the 2017 Australian Italian Varieties Wine Awards for La Zona Sagrantino 2015 and La Zona Barbera 2016 – two highly anticipated releases to keep an eye out for.
Both wines scored an impressive 95 points from a panel of judges including Sophie Otton (Chair), Sue Hodder, Kevin Glastonbury and Andrew Thomas (Panel Chairs.)
Results such as these helps reinforce Sagrantino’s promising future in the King Valley and Barbera’s ability – the red grape of which we founded Chrismont on – to go from strength to strength.
A big congratulations to Chrismont winemaker Warren Proft and all the talented people who work with Warren to help build successes such as this.
We’ll keep you posted on the release dates of these two, medal-wining wines!
The Australian Italian Varieties Wine Awards has been created by the Riverina Winemakers Association to focus specifically on the development of Australian wines from Italian varieties. The awards have a natural link with the Riverina, as the region’s agricultural foundations were underpinned by the strong Italian migrant population, right back to the early 1900s.
